If nothing is physically broken and the machine is just slow, do not buy parts yet — a look at what is actually wrong costs less and often solves it.
What people ask.
My laptop is quite old — can you still get parts?
Usually, and this is where a lot of places give up. Older machines are often perfectly good apart from one worn component, and finding that part is mostly patience.
Is it cheaper to just buy a new laptop?
Sometimes, and I will tell you when. A screen on a decent machine is usually well worth it; a screen on a machine that is also slow, out of warranty and short on memory often is not. You get the comparison, not a sales pitch.
