When you don’t need this
If the machine is simply infected and no accounts have been taken over, the virus clean plus backup is the cheaper and more appropriate job.

How quickly should I act?
Immediately. Every hour makes recovery harder and gives whoever it is more time to reach your other accounts. Ring rather than email if you think it is live.
Am I going to get a lecture about my password?
No. It happens to careful people constantly, and telling you what you should have done is no use now. We get you back in, shut the door, and set things up so it is harder next time.
